Scott Robert Lim | New York City Workshop

I wish they had an extreme makeover for photographers because that is how I feel after returning home from an amazing workshop in New York.  I want to change everything! My logo, my website, my blog (this is one thing that will be changing, I promise to keep up much better!!!), my direction, my style…everything.  But, I have realized that not all of that needs to be changed (at least not right away), what I need to start with is me.  I need to figure out exactly who I am and what I want out of this business.  Junshien Lau gave an inspirational talk about following our dreams and making them a reality, but when I sat down for a one on one conversation with Scott the first question he asked me was “What are your two biggest dreams?”.  Pretty easy question right?  Not for me!  I was so embarrassed when I sat there and pretty much said “I don’t have big dreams, I just want to be happy”, I know this is not true for myself and I realized that this week.  I don’t have to make a million dollars or shoot 50 weddings a year, but what I do want is to put my heart into everything I do and do great, to be proud of the art that I create.  I want to make photographs that make people feel, to evoke emotion with every image regardless of what it may be.  I want to love completely.  I want to make people feel beautiful and see themselves in a way they never have before.  This workshop has made such an impact on how I see myself as a photographer and given me the inspiration and motivation I needed to step it up.  Quit settling and being satisfied with giving less than everything.  The people I met in new York are incredibly talented individuals and I cannot thank you enough for being so free with your talent, advice, and encouragement.  So to all of you photographers out there, go to a Scott Robert Workshop, I promise it will change your life and your perspective on your work.  Not only is Scott Robertamazing, but he brings others with him who each contribute something special to the experience .  Check out the work of Junshien LauMarie Lyssa, and Tauran Woo and prepare to be amazed and see only an ounce of the talent we had with us this week.  These are just a few of my personal images from this week, a full gallery of images will be available on Facebook soon!

These are fantastic images from the workshop. I am so glad you were able to learn a lot from NYC and Scott’s workshop made it a life changing event. I hope to reconnect with y’all very soon. Thanks Sarah for helping me being the light stands at times too. Too bad I didn’t get to spend more time with you and get to know you better. Hopefully see you in San Fran or at WPPI 2011 or at Scott’s PARIS workshop! Love, Zabrina
